Modern (from the French moderne - Modern) or Art Nouveau (French art nouveau, i.e. "new art") - An artistic movement in the arts, which were popular in the second half of XIX - early XX century. Its distinctive features are: the rejection of straight lines and angles in favor of a more natural lines, interest to new technologies (especially in architecture), the flowering of arts and crafts. Modern tried to combine artistic and utilitarian functions created works that engage all spheres of human activity in the sphere of beauty.

Art Nouveau architecture features a rejection of straight lines and angles in favor of a more natural lines, the use of new technologies (metal, glass), the desire to create both aesthetically beautiful and functional buildings. Much attention was paid not only to the appearance of buildings, but also the interior, which carefully studied. All structural elements: stairs, doors, pillars, balconies - artistically processed. Stair railings, light fixtures hanging from the ceiling, even the door handles - all carefully designed in the same style.

The main expressive forms and motifs of Art Nouveau became the line, not a direct but flexible, lively, whimsical, elegant, soulful. The language of Art Nouveau - is abstract form, but living, organic, breathing and growing.
